Mark Guishard
Mark Guishard is the Authority’s Chief Administrative Officer. Mark has served in leadership roles over the last 20 years, including Director of the Bermuda Weather Service 2020-2022. He has a PhD in Meteorology from Penn State University, following MSc and BSc in Atmospheric and Environmental Sciences, respectively, from the University of East Anglia.
Prior to joining the Authority, he was at the Bermuda Institute of Ocean Sciences 2013-2020, where he was Director of Corporate & Community Relations, and Program Manager of the Risk Prediction Initiative.
Dr. Guishard is also currently an an Adjunct Scientist & Trustee at BIOS, a World Meteorological Organization Focal Point for Disaster Risk Reduction, and a Trustee of the Fessenden-Trott Scholarships.
Mark is a Chartered Meteorologist, with 20 years’ of experience with atmospheric sciences, with particular expertise in the variability of Atlantic hurricane risk, Bermuda's weather & climate, and disaster risk reduction. Dr. Guishard has a long history with the Bermuda Weather Service, having been a Meteorological Forecaster since 1997, and previously serving as Director 2006-2012.
He has technical training from the UK Meteorological Office and the US National Hurricane Center, and has completed a number of management and leadership training activities in previous roles. Mark spent decades serving Bermuda’s youth in the Bermuda Sea Cadet Corps, including as a Deputy Commanding Officer, and also as Chair of the Bermuda Sea Cadet Association, completing 25 years of service to that organization in 2016.
