Michelle Pitcher

Michelle Pitcher is the Director of the Bermuda Weather Service (BWS). Michelle has a BS degree in Ocean Science from Maine Maritime Academy and an MS in Fisheries Science from the University of Maryland Eastern Shore. 

 

Michelle joined BWS in 2008 as a Meteorological Technician. She was certified as an independent Meteorologist in 2010 and was eventually promoted to Deputy Director of BWS in 2017. In July 2022, Michelle took on the role of Acting Director of BWS and was officially promoted to Director in February 2023. 

 

Michelle started her career with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration as an oceanographer before moving to Bermuda and joining the Bermuda Weather Service (BWS) in 2008 as a Meteorological Technician. Michelle received comprehensive training in meteorology, including courses at the UK Met Office and at the National Hurricane Center in Miami, Florida.

Michelle is a dedicated, experienced meteorologist with a passion for ocean science, a wealth of knowledge & experience, and a deep understanding of the ocean and its impact on weather patterns. She is a valuable asset to BWS and is dedicated to providing accurate and reliable weather information for the people of Bermuda.
